East African Community (EAC)
ABS Consulting Group has played a crucial role in supporting the East African Community (EAC) in various capacities since 2013. Initially, we conducted a Mock Assessment to validate the EAC’s eligibility as an International Organization under Pillar 4 – Procurement. This was followed by a comprehensive Seven Pillar Pre-Assessment in October 2014, focusing on key areas including Internal Controls, Accounting, External Audit, Procurement, and Sub-delegation to evaluate whether EAC’s processes meet internationally accepted standards.
In 2015, we facilitated a verification mission to assess the status of outstanding items identified in the previous Fiduciary pre-assessment. Additionally, in 2014, we were tasked with developing a comprehensive EAC Assets Management and Disposal Policy and Procedures manual, establishing an organizational framework for effective asset management.
Our commitment to enhancing the EAC’s capabilities continued as we reviewed the progress of the Capacity Development Action Plan (CDAP) in 2015, identifying gaps and areas needing intervention. We also conducted an external review of the EAC Partnership Fund in January 2015. Most recently, in November 2018, we assessed the impact of selected audits from the Office of the Auditor General, ensuring that the EAC’s governance and operational frameworks align with best practices and support its strategic objectives.
